Dear Friends,
My name is Ninos Oshaana and I am the founder of AtourNet.com. I'm thrilled that you've joined our online community and confident that you'll enjoy and make great use of all the tools and features for yourself, friends, family or organization.
Why AtourNet?
Online Social Networks offer a great way for people all over the world to meet and become friends or just for old friends and family to keep in touch. There are a ton of them online these days like myspace and Friendster but I wanted to create one that was made just for our people!
And so, a few years and a lot of long nights later, I launched AtourNet to offer our Umta a safe and fun place online to meet each other for fellowship, friendships, and more.
The Mission
My mission is to make AtourNet a place where all Syriac speaking people will feel welcome and know that our common heritage and language unites us ALL as Atouraye!
Yes, I know that there are divisions between different millat's, denominations, political parties and even clubs. In my humble opinion, I think it's all fruitless and a distraction from what should be our common goal: Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and the support and encouragment of our young people to advance in the arts, medicine, law and religion, so that they may be a voice for all of us in the future.
There will likely be a few heated debates on the blogs and bulletin boards. I kindly ask you to please be respectful, peaceful, and sensitive to each other's views, opinions, and faith traditions. Remember to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
About Me
I'm an Orthodox Christian and live in beautiful San Jose, California with my beautiful wife Tina and "Chewy" our noisy but lovable parrot. I've been involved in high-tech marketing and web development in Silicon Valley since 1995.
I'm proud to be an Assyrian. I was born in Kamp'et Gailani in Baghdad, Iraq and grew up in Wiesbaden Germany. I was eleven when my parents moved our family to the US, as so many others have done. They left everything to find a better life and give us opportunities which they never had.
I love my people and am proud of our heritage and accomplishments. This site is my small contribution to our scattered nation. I see it as a beautifully decorated dinner table, where everyone in the family can gather in love, joy, and laughter, to be together, in our own place, even if it's just a website.
Feel free to send me an email if you've got a question, comment or suggestion. I'd love to hear from you.
With love in Christ,
Ninos
